Parchment Screen—Homage to Eileen Gray
1990

The screen made of cherry wood structure and parchment panels filters the bright light coming from the windows. It is meant to work with the geomantic evaluation of the space. A plane on the entrance hall disengages itself from the wall and becomes a free-standing screen.
The screen is composed of three sections that move 360 degrees. Each section in turn is formed by three vertical units holding seven parchment panels each, which also move so they may vary from creating a continuous flat plane to more diverse forms of formal organization.
As a film screen it works with the light as a rear projection so that shadows insinuate bodies in movement behind. The screen is to the body as the fan is to the face. They are objects of seduction through modesty.
